Obituary

FLY CREEK – Richard (Vilnis) H. Mangulis, 91, passed away on February 21, 2024 at the Cooperstown Center.

He was born February 10, 1933 in Riga Latvia, the son of Ernests Hugo and Marta (Aleksis) Mangulis.

Richard was a United States Marine Corps veteran, who served in the Korean War. He received numerous commendations due to his good deeds while serving the country for 10 years.

He was a college professor and was a Human Factors Engineer on the Apollo Lunar Landing Program at Grumman Corp. for 10 years. He also published three books of poetry.

He is survived by his sons, Andre Aleksis, Peter Mangulis, and Paul Mangulis; three grandchildren, Erica, Jessica, and Paul Jason; and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. with the service at 3 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2024 at the Heller & Skinner Funeral Home, 155 Main St., Worcester, NY.  The Rev. Jack Klosheim will be officiating.

Interment will be at a late date at the National Cemetery in Long Island
