Obituary

OTEGO – Richard A. Strignano, 79, went home to be with the Lord on October 25, 2023; surrounded by his family.

He was born July 3, 1944 in Binghamton, the son of Albert Alfonse and Mary Jane (Griffith) Strignano.

Richard graduated from Sidney High School, Class of 1963.

He married Barbara Ann Mang of Richfield Springs, NY on November 6, 1964, in an intimate church ceremony in Utica.

Together they lived in several towns before eventually settling their family in Sidney, NY.  In the 1970's he was the lead singer, and played guitar for the band, Country Play Boys. He worked in Sidney for Amphenol (Bendix) as a Production Supervisor through 1989. Richard was also an entrepreneur with many business endeavors in retail and online.  His most successful business was Cos-Mos Satellite TV in Sidney, but he also had an online eBay marketplace and owned the Vinyl Record Vault in downtown Oneonta for many years.  He made a lot friends along the way.

Richard was a member of the Oneonta Assembly of God Church, where he served on the Board for three years.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Barbara Ann Strignano of Otego; his 4 sons, Todd (Martha) Strignano of New Lisbon, Christian Strignano of Oneonta, Brent (Debra) Strignano of Binghamton and Richard Strignano Jr. of Otego; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his siblings, Christine Jedik, Kim Kiel, Kirk Easton, Pamela Krayeski, Jaxie Reib, Delores Eastwood, Guy Easton, and Larry Easton; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, and a sister, Candy Kouse.

A celebration of Richard's life will be held on Sunday, December 3, 2023, beginning at 3 p.m. with the service to follow at 4 p.m., at the Oneonta Assembly of God Church, 1667 County Road 48, Oneonta, with the Rev. John Grenier, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to be made to the Oneonta Assembly of God Church.
