UNADILLA – Richard "Dick" W. Beers, 81, passed away December 23, 2014 at his home where he loved to be.


He was born May 8, 1933 in Masonville, the son of William and Geraldine (Drumm) Beers.


Dick was a United States Army veteran.


He was a life long area resident; a truck driver and a mechanic. He owned and operated Beers Towing and Recovery in Unadilla for many years. Dick was a member of the Doodle Bug Club in Franklin. His door was always open for a cup of coffee, a slice of bread and his quick sense of humor.


He was predeceased by his parents; a sister, Phyllis Schriver; a brother, Clinton Beers; his fiancée, Helen Finch, and her son, Roger Finch.


He is survived by his siblings, LaVerna Foree, William Beers, Earl Beers, Ruth Tennant, Andrew Beers, and Terry Beers; his children, Linda Millbower, Richard Beers, and Ann Mileski; 5 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; Helen's family, Judy Wright, Rex Finch, Janet Wright, Janice Finch and their families; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins; and his life long best friend, Lester Constable.


The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, December 30, 2014 at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta. There will be no formal service or burial at this time. The family has requested no flowers.
