Obituary

Worcester – Richard Guy Weidman, 95, passed away May 5, 2022 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown.

He was born April 22, 1927 in Cooperstown, the son of Francis Guy and Julia Emma (Walton) Weidman.

Dick attended Worcester Central School and Roosevelt Aviation School in Mineola, NY.

He was a United States Navy veteran serving during World War II 1945 to 1946 as a Machinist's Mate 3 rd Class.

Dick married Betsy Harriet Boorn on June 16, 1950 in the Episcopal Church in Schenevus.

He worked for the D&H Railroad from 1950 to his retirement in 1987.  He was a member of the Worcester Fire Department from 1956 to 1996, and served proudly on the board of fire commissioners from 1986 to 2000.

He is survived by his wife, Betsy Weidman; children, Timothy (Hope) Weidman and Bonny Lee Deflandre; grandson, William (Jennifer) Weidman and great-grandsons, Liam and Connor; granddaughter, Jennifer (Robert) Bigelow and great-grandson, Robert; and his brother, Robert Walton Weidman.

Per his wishes, a private graveside service will be held at the Maple Grove Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
