Wright
February 19, 1937 – February 24, 2020
After living a wonderfully enriching life, fulfilled by family, travels, and the outdoors, Richard W. Wright age 83, died peacefully at home on Monday, February 24, 2020 after health complications.
He was born February 19, 1937, the son of the late Van and Leah (Wade) Wright.
He graduated from Worcester Central School in 1954 and went into the service.
After the service, he started working at Wilber National Bank until his retirement in 1992. For the next 18 years, he and his wife ran View Wright Video.
Dick will live on in the hearts of his wife, Shirley of 62 years; his children, Laurie Wright of Atlanta, Georgia, Denise (Frederick) Grantier Jr. of Worcester, Jennifer (Jerry) Beams of Schenevus, and Van (Kristen) Wright of Worcester. His grandchildren, Sarah Grantier Hinchman (CJ), Gabrielle Grantier, Andrew Beams and finance, Kelsey Sanderl, Matthew Beams, Ruby Wright and his sister, Marilyn (Charlie) Dufresne. Dick is also survived by cousins, nephews and nieces.
Dick was predeceased by his parents, and his brothers, Willard, Milton (Flash), and George.
Dick lived and served in his community all of his life. He was an avid sportsman, a voracious reader, loved traveling with his wife and swimming with the turtles in Hawaii. Dick had a wonderful sense of humor and loved to share his many stories and jokes. He was a charter member of the Peanut Butter Lovers Club. His family knew him only as a kind and mild-mannered man; a good friend to all and will be missed by many. In the last 10 years, Dick served as the treasurer of the Alumni Assoc in Worcester. He was a member of Worcenevus Camp, Crumhorn Rod and Gun Club and a blood donor (yes at 82!)
Friends and relatives are invited to call on the family from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday February 28, at Heller Skinner Funeral Home, 155 Main St., Worcester.
The funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, February 29, at the United Methodist Church, 111 Main St., Worcester.
Burial will be at a later date in Maple Grove Cemetery in Worcester.
