Maryland – Robert L. Currie, 85, passed away June 15, 2024 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown.

He was born July 24, 1938 in East Meredith, the son of George and Anna (Waters) Currie.

Robert was a United States Army veteran.

He married Meta Meinking on October 23, 1965 at the First United Methodist Church in Oneonta.

He was a machinist for over 40 years retiring from Amphenol in Sidney.

Robert enjoyed league bowling, collecting antique and unique piggy banks, feeding the birds and loved his cats.

He is survived by his sons, Steven Currie (Lori Paparteys) and Jeffrey Currie; sister-in-law, Sandy Currie; brother-in-law, Herb Meinking; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Meta on January 14, 2023; his brother, Donald Currie; niece, Teri Currie and sister-in-law, Fran Meinking.

Visitation will be at 11 a.m. to the funeral service at Noon, Tuesday, June 25, at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta.  The Rev. Casey Bradley will be officiating.

The interment with military honors will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Worcester.
