Westford

Robert J. Dankievitch, 77, passed away Monday, May 18, 2015 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown.

He was born on November 2, 1937 in Smithtown, NY; the son of John A. and Anna B. (Pendzick) Dankievitch.

Robert married Anne Hinsch on December 21, 1957 in Uniondale, NY.

He served in United States Navy for 11 years in active duty and the reserves for 13 years, retiring as Commander.

Bob was a police officer for the Suffolk County Police Department for 24 years. He moved to Westford when he retired in 1992.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Worcester. Robert loved spending time and doing things with his grandchildren. He liked to hunt, drink beer and smoke cigars.

Robert is survived by his wife Anne of Westford; 4 children, Cheryl Holmes and husband Matt of Shirley, NY, Robert Dankievitch and wife Michele of Schenevus, Judith Biegel and husband Bill of Westford and Lynda May and husband John of Westford; 14 grandchildren, Cathy, Mike, Alan, Christy, Randy, Jessica, Katie, Cindie, John, Robert, Rebecca, Matthew, Patricia and Victoria; 10 great-grandchildren, Jordan, Christopher, Michael, Haylee, Madison, Ava, Caiden, Isaac, Jayson and Jacob; a sister, Anne Engelhardt of Middle Island, NY and a brother Edward Dankievitch of Center Moriches, NY.

He was predeceased by his parents and a brother John Dankievitch.

A funeral mass will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Main Street in Worcester with the Rev. Ronald Green, MM as celebrant.

Burial will follow at St. Joseph's Cemetery in Worcester.
