OTEGO – Robert F. "Rip" Donlin, 60, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, December 9, 2012 at home.

He was born August 12, 1952 in Sidney, the son of Martin S. and Marjorie (Bugbee) Donlin.

Robert graduated from Unatego High School, Class of 1971. He then joined the United States Air Force serving from 1971 to 1975 as a Security Policeman and a Vehicle Body Repairman. After returning from the service, he was self-employed as a mechanic and auto body repairman. He also worked for Reed & Sons and Mirabito Fuel Group.

He was a member and present commander of the Otego American Legion Post 1555.

He is survived by his wife, Janice (Longtin) Donlin whom he married on October 11, 2009. He is also survived by his children, Heather Donlin and Michael Donlin of Buffalo, Bobby Donlin of Texas, Beth Donlin of Tennessee, and Mariah Donlin of Davenport; a step-daughter, Sarah Wilson of Maryland and her family; brothers, Martin (Gail) Donlin of Vermont, Richard (Vickie) Donlin of Tennessee, Thomas Donlin of Florida; a sister, Joyce (John) Mikolaicyk of Oneonta; his mother-in-law, Emily Longtin of Otego; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents and a step-son, Robert Wilson.

Calling hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 14, 2012 at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta. A remembrance service with military honors will be at 8 p.m.
