Oneonta - Robert F. Evans, 85, passed away October 19, 2020 at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family, after a brave long struggle with Lewy Body Disease.

He was born July 2, 1935 in Oneonta the son of Jack and Ruth (Rider) Evans.

He graduated from Oneonta High School, Class of 1953.  He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.  He received a Civil Engineering degree from Tri-State University.

He married Carol Luckenbach on May 3, 1969 at the First United Methodist Church in Oneonta.

Bob joined his family's business, Jack Evans & Sons Plumbing and Heating.

As a young man Bob enjoyed playing sports and spending time with his friends.  He was a golfer and a skier.  He was an active member of the Elks Lodge and the Oneonta Country Club. He traveled with friends and family and enjoyed spending winter months in Florida. In his later years, his greatest joy was spending time with his beloved family.  He was a generous, compassionate and quiet man, always quick witted with a joke and a story to share.

Bob is survived by his wife, Carol Evans; children Eric and his wife Trisha Evans of Otego and Alison Evans and her husband, John Dymowski of Florida; grandchildren, Kevin and wife, Neala Campbell and Jessica Newell; great grandchildren, Tucker and Parker; sister-in-law, Betty Ann Evans; niece, Arley and husband, Alex Lau; brother-in-law, James and wife, Patty Luckenbach and family.

He was predeceased by his parents; brother, William Evans; grandson-in-law, Joshua Newell.

Calling hours will be held 5 to 7 PM Monday, October 26 at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta. Please wear a face cover, maintain social distancing, and be prepared to wait to enter the building.

The funeral service will be held 11 AM Tuesday, October 27 at the funeral home, with the same restrictions. The Rev. Paul Messner will be officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the Glenwood Cemetery in Oneonta.

The Evans family would like to thank the compassionate staff at A.O. Fox Hospital for their care and support during his last days. The Evans family would also like to extend their gratitude to the wonderful caregivers that supported Bob throughout his journey over the last year. Special thanks to caregivers: Kristy, Martha, Tom, Deborah, Keith, and Kathy.
