SCHENEVUS – Robert H. Foster, 86, passed away peacefully on November 25, 2016 at Bassett Medical Center in Cooperstown with family by his side.
He was born September 17, 1930 in Queens, NY, the son of Robert A. and Elizabeth (Buss) Foster.
Bob was a United States Army veteran.
He moved to Worcester in 1955 from Long Island with his family.
Bob married Betty C. Evans on February 14, 1959 at the Baptist Church parsonage in Worcester. They have since resided in Schenevus.
He worked in the Steam Turbine Department at General Electric in Schenectady for 33 years.
Bob enjoyed hunting, gardening, horseshoes, bowling, square dancing and most especially spoiling his grandchildren, as well as going to all of their school activities.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Foster of Schenevus; his children, Suzanne (Mark) Mabie of South Valley, and Robert J ( Kelly) Foster of Coolville, Ohio; grandchildren, Devlin A. Foster, Kenton J. Foster, Shaunna L. Foster, Adrienne E. Mabie, Shane M. Mabie; great grandchildren, Mackenzie H. Foster and Rowan J. Foster; two sisters, Elizabeth Embro of Vero Beach, FL and Florence (Arthur) Miller of Burlington Flats; a brother, Donald (Dottie) Foster of Schenevus; three sister-in-laws, Alberta (Paul) Deselets of Cherry Valley, Rosemary Evans, and Margaret Foster of New Berlin; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Arthur and Herbert Foster and brother-in-law George Evans.
Calling hours will be Noon to the funeral service at 1 p.m., Tuesday, November 29, 2016 at the Heller & Skinner Funeral Home, 155 Main St., Worcester. Rev. Judith A. Thistle will be officiating.
Interment will be 11 a.m., Monday, April 24, 2017 at the Schenevus Cemetery.
