Oneonta – Robert L. Henderson, Jr. of Southside Drive, Oneonta, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, January 30, 2007 at his home.

He was born January 24, 1931 in Oneonta, the son of Robert L. Henderson, Sr. and Margaret (Hebbard) Henderson. He graduated from Oneonta High School in 1948.

He married Barbara Weeks on March 24, 1956 in Harrington Park, NJ. Bob is now reunited with his beloved, Barbara, who predeceased him December 26, 2004.

Bob and his brother Hugh operated the family dairy farm from 1946, when their father purchased the farm on Southside, until October 2000 when the brothers sold their cows, ending more than a half-century of this family-owned dairy business.

He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, where he served faithfully as an Elder, and many years on the Building & Grounds Committee. He was a member of the Oneonta Masonic Lodge #466 and was on the Board of Trustees at the Glenwood Cemetery Association.

Bob's greatest love was his family and his farm. Taking time for annual camping trips, attending kids' school programs and activities, keeping the various cars running, and traveling to spend time with his grandchildren was always a joy. Just about every Sunday, he'd get to church, albeit a little late. With his big heart and his strong hands, he and his family, prepared the soil for crops, harvested the hay and corn, milked up to 90 holsteins twice a day, seven days a week. Most recently you could find him enjoying a morning cup of coffee at the diner, starting his day with the newspaper and his friends.

Bob is survived by his three children, Jim and his wife, Pam Henderson of Vernon, Debbie and her husband, Tim Raymond of Sacramento, CA and Robin and her husband, Ray Thomas of Tucson, AZ; his beloved grandchildren, Britney and Andy Thomas of Tucson; a brother, Hugh and his wife, Betty Henderson of Oneonta; and many nieces and nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be from 5 – 8 PM Thursday, February 8 at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home in Oneonta.

The funeral service will be at 2 PM Friday, February 9 at the First Presbyterian Church, 296 Main St., Oneonta, with the Rev. Mark E. Montfort, pastor, officiating.

Interment will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, April 28, 2007 at the Glenwood Cemetery.
