Westford

Robert E. Hill Sr., 85, passed away Sunday, December 23, 2018 at the Cooperstown Center where he had resided for 9 months.

He was born on September 29, 1933 in Worcester, the son of Harold and Beatrice (Germond) Hill.

Bob married Audrey Ruth Townsend. She predeceased him on April 14, 1997.

He graduated from Worcester Central School with the class of 1951.

Bob served in the United States Army from 1956-1959 during which he was stationed in France for a time.  He earned the Good Conduct Medal as well as the Expert Rifle Award. He was also a lifetime member of the AMVETS and particularly enjoyed volunteering at the Sunday breakfasts in Schenevus.

Bob is survived by his children, Shelly Kane and her husband, Andrew of Westford, Virginia Portes and her husband, Charles of Lake George, Robert E. Hill Jr. of East Worcester and Carol Vosatka and her husband, Brian of Westford; his grandchildren, Daniel Caballer, Michael Caballer, Jennifer Gerlach and her husband, Jeff, Sylvia Hernandez, Samuel Hernandez, Joseph Portes, Samantha Fedor and her husband, Jim and David Vosatka; his first great-grandchild, Tenley Gerlach; his brothers, Donald Hill and his wife, Sandra of North Carolina, Eugene Hill and his wife, Marion of Missouri, James Hill and his wife, Marj of West Oneonta, Steve Hill of Otego; his sister, Linda Fitzpatrick and her husband, Patrick of Davenport and his sister-in-law, Joan Hill of Oneonta.

He was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Harold, John and Richard Hill.

Bob lived for many years in Westford, where in later life, he enjoyed sitting on his front porch, talking to neighbors and friends as they passed by. He enjoyed reconnecting with extended family each summer for the family reunion. He was a true gentleman and a man of his word. He will forever be in his family's hearts.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 5, 2018 at the Heller & Skinner Funeral Home, 155 Main Street in Worcester with the Rev. Judith A. Thistle, officiating.

Burial will take place at the Westford Cemetery at a later date.
