Robert G. Lange, 87, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at the Chestnut Park Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Oneonta.
Bob was born on September 8, 1928 in Passaic, NJ; the son of William and Hilda (Winkler) Lange.
He married Marilyn "Mitzie" Schreyer on October 29, 1950. She predeceased him in 2001.
Bob served in the United States Navy. As he always said….I joined the Navy to see the world, but I only got as far as Astoria, Oregon.
Bob was a self-employed carpenter. He built numerous houses for customers that became friends.
He was a member of the Worcester American Legion, St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Richmondville and a lifetime member of the Boyscouts of America.
Bob is survived by his daughter Peggy Southworth of Worcester, his son John Lange and his wife Debra of Worcester, his 3 grandchildren, April Tompkins, Matthew Lange and Gregory Lange, his great-grandson Caden Morton, a brother Harold Lange of New Jersey and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his grandson Jeremy Tompkins, a brother Bill Lange and sister Mae Hendricks.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 23, 2016 at the Heller & Skinner Funeral Home, 155 Main Street in Worcester with the Rev. Kenneth Dingman officiating.
Burial will follow at the Maple Grove cemetery in Worcester.
Calling hours will be held Sunday, May 22, 2016 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
