ONEONTA – Robert A. "Mugsy" McMullen Jr., 42, passed away unexpectedly at home on Saturday, May 12, 2007.

He was born December 25, 1963 in Oneonta, the son of Robert A. Sr. and Janice (Alger) McMullen.

Mugsy was a graduate of Oneonta High School Class of 1982. He took numerous college courses and had a love of learning, with a broad knowledge of many subjects.

He especially enjoyed music, playing his guitar and boxing. He was an avid outdoorsman, who like to fish, hunt and enjoyed nature.

Mugsy had the personality to make friends where ever he went. He could light up a room by simply entering it.

He was a member of the Calvary Chapel of The Hills in Oneonta.

Survivors are his father and step-mother, Robert and Genevieve McMullen; grandmother, Charlotte McMullen; sister, Karen and Larry Krom; brother, Brian and Marianne Baker McMullen; sister, Laurie McMullen and sister, Kimberly McMullen and Lateef Duncan; nieces and nephews, Cole and Hayley Stabler and Richard and Michelle McMullen; a very special uncle and aunt, Joe and Debbie McMullen; and many cousins, aunts and uncles; and good friends, Darin Wilsey and Dave Cole.

He was predeceased by his mother, Janice Parson.

A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, May 19, 2007 at the Oneonta Assembly of God Church on Back River Road, with the Rev. Robert Baltodano, pastor of the Calvary Chapel of The Hills, officiating. There will be calling hours from Noon to 1 p.m. at the church.

Interment will be at the convenience of the family.
