ONEONTA - Robert Herman Schmiedel, born December 2, 1935, died peacefully at
home September 24, 2014, with family and friends at his side.


A former long time Worcester resident, he was the son of Herman and Anita
Schmiedel. Most of Bob's life he was a self employed plumbing and heating
contractor. He loved to spend his spare time outdoors. He loved to hunt and fish
the local lakes and streams. He was a past Worcester Fire Department member.


He was predeceased by his father and mother, and his brother, Thomas Schmiedel.


He is survived by his sisters, Joan (Bing) Cummings of Cobleskill and Judy Smith
and George Weisgerber, Jr. of Davenport; a brother, Lynn Schmiedel of Little
Falls; his beloved wife, Janet I. Schmiedel of A.O. Fox Nursing Home, whom he
married on July 4, 1960, he has stayed devoted too and cared for to the end; his
companion of ten years, Regina Gast of Oneonta; his children, Jimmy (Jane)
Schmiedel of Schenectady, Barbara (Schmiedel) Garcia of Bovina, Lawrence
Schmiedel of Worcester, and Christopher Schmiedel of North Carolina; many
nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.


At Bob's request, there will no calling hours and the funeral service will be
for immediate family.
