Oneonta – Ronald E. Brazier, 85, passed away at home on December 23, 2025.
He was born in Oneonta, January 6, 1940 to Florence and Myron "Red" Brazier.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Betsy; two beloved daughters, Amy Harvey (Craig) and Mary Stalder (David); 3 wonderful grandchildren, Erin and Nicholas Stalder and Meredith Smithling; and many nieces and nephews.
Ron was predeceased by his parents, and brothers, Robert and Russell Brazier.
Ron graduated from Oneonta High School in 1958 and enlisted in the United States Army in 1959. During his time in the Army he served with the Signal Corp. in Munich and Stuttgart, Germany. After serving in the Army, he went on to have a 35-year career with NYSEG, 18 years as a lineman and the remainder as a general line foreman and Construction Manager.
He was a member of the Oneonta American Legion, Oneonta Alumni Association, and was honored to be Alumni of the year in 2015. He was a member of the Oneonta Elks Lodge for over 60 years, where he served as Exalted Ruler. Ron as also a member of the Sixth Ward Athletic Club and former member of the C.J. Golf Course.
The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Dr. Croft, the staff at Fox Hospital and to Helios Care, for their incredible compassion during this difficult time.
Calling hours will be from 11 a.m. to Noon. At Noon will be an Elks Lodge of Sorrows Service followed by a funeral service, officiated by Deacon Paul Cerosale, on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta.
The committal service with military honors will be 1 p.m., Friday, May 8, 2026 at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Oneonta.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Helios Care, 297 River Street Service Road, Oneonta, NY 13820 or to Susquehanna SPCA, 5082-5088 NY 28, Cooperstown, NY 13326.
