Ronald K. Hillis, beloved husband of Marilyn passed away at home on Sunday, August 16, 2009.
He is survived by two sons, Wayne, and Darren and his wife, Kathleen; four grandchildren, Kyle, Ryan, and Connor Hillis and Jacob Mehegan. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Dawn and John Wilcox; two aunts, Helen McClintock and Betty Grosfent; two nieces; two nephews; two great-nieces and one great-nephew.
Ronnie was born in Charlotteville, NY on July 25, 1938, the son of Kenneth and Pearl (Grosfent) Hillis. He graduated from Oneonta High School in 1956, then went on to serve in the United States Marine Corp. He married Marilyn Connolly on March 11, 1960. When he came home from the service he worked several years for Wilson Roofing, then two short stints at Pickett's Building and Rowe Brothers. He then worked at Oneonta Tire until retirement.
When Ronnie was younger, he enjoyed hunting and working on cars. In the last few years he very much enjoyed shopping and traveling.
Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 21, 2009 at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, Oneonta.
The funeral service will be 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 22, 2009 at the funeral home, with the Rev. Keith VanDewerker, officiating.
Burial with military honors will follow at the Oneonta Plains Cemetery.
