Ronald A. Martin Sr., 71, passed away Monday, September 13, 2010 at his residence.

He was born November 14, 1938 in Brooklyn, NY; the son of Walter and Gertrude Martin.

Ron married Madelene Hoffmann on August 12, 1961 in Ridgewood, Queens. She predeceased him on November 25, 2007.

He served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1963.

After retiring from Swezey's Department Store in Patchogue, where he worked as a men's wear buyer, Ron moved to East Worcester in 1992.

Ron enjoyed woodworking, being outdoors, hunting and his beloved dogs.

He was a member of the East Worcester Fire Department, F.F.A. and the Worcester American Legion Post #1584 where he was past commander.

Ron is survived by his 2 daughters, Dawn Frey and her husband, Peter of Blue Point, NY and Donna Pfeifer and her husband, Thomas of Blue Point, NY; his son, Ronald A. Martin II and his wife Jamei, of East Worcester and 2 grandchildren, Ronald A. III and Michael Martin both of East Worcester. He was predeceased by his parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

Calling hours will be held Friday, September 17, 2010 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the E.J. Skinner Co. Funeral Chapel, 155 Main Street, Worcester. Military Honors will be presented by the Worcester American Legion Post #1584 at 7:00 p.m.
