Oneonta – Ronald S. Songdale, 86, passed away January 5, 2021 at Chestnut Park Nursing Home in Oneonta.

He was born March 19, 1934 in Oneonta, the son of Peter and Violet (Sterling) Songdale.

Ron was a United States Air Force veteran, serving from 1952-1956. He was a member of the Oneonta Vets Club and the Moose Lodge.

Ron was employed as a manager at Williams Furniture Store, Oneonta for 30 years. He also worked in security and as a greeter at the Oneonta Wal-Mart for 16 years.

He is survived by his son, Jeffrey S. Songdale and fiancée, Penny Carey of Morris; his sister, Sylvia Quartier, of Florida; a niece, Kim; and his dear friend, Marie Laterra of Oneonta.

He was predeceased by his parents and brother, Peter Songdale.

A private graveside service will take place at the West Oneonta Cemetery.
