SCHENEVUS – Rosalie M. Barnes, 87, passed away Sunday, December 12, 2010 surrounded by family at son's home.
She was born January 30, 1923 in Elk Creek, the daughter of Earl and Helen (Hall) Wilsey.
Rosalie married Stanley R. Barnes on December 15, 1945 at the Schenevus United Methodist Church.
She was employed at the Schenevus Post Office for over 30 years and as the Post Master for nine, retiring in 1982. She also was a partner in the family business, Barnes Monument Works in Schenevus, with Stanley and son, Robert for 53 years.
Rosalie was a member of the Schenevus United Methodist Church, a founding and charter member of the C.H. Graham Hose Co. Ladies Auxiliary for 54 years, the Otschodela Council BSA, the BSA Troop 18 Schenevus, Otsego County Fireman's Auxiliary, and the Otsego County Volunteer Fireman's Association. She also served on the Draper Central School Board of Education.
She is survived by her son, Robert and daughter-in-law, Maggie Barnes; grandchildren, David, Angela and Eric and wife, Sarah Barnes; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Stanley; sisters, Anne Hughes and Marcia Cooper Bottke and a brother, Earl D. Wilsey.
Calling hours will be 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at the Heller Funeral Home, Schenevus.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m., Thursday, December 16, 2010 at the Schenevus United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Lawrence Russell, pastor, officiating. Interment will follow at the Schenevus Cemetery.
