Rose M. Donnelly, 80, of Charlotteville passed away Friday, July 15, 2011 at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta.

She was born on April 16, 1931 in Brooklyn; the daughter of Louis and Philomena Ferruggia.

Rose married Richard P. Donnelly on June 26, 1970.

Rose was an active volunteer at A.O. Fox Hospital in the gift shop, arts and craft shows, and many other events hosted by the Women Auxiliary. Volunteering was what kept Rose busy and active until such time that her illness kept her from the duties at A.O. Fox Hospital. Despite her illness, Rose continued to do volunteer work from home for the hospital.

Rose was also a member of many Pen Pal Clubs which was another hobby she loved. Making address labels, magnets and cards for friends and family gave her many hours of joy and accomplishment. Besides her husband, the loves of her life were all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren which number over 25.

If it were shopping, eating at a restaurant or just sitting at a volunteer desk everyone knew her. No matter where she went she would always find a friend or two to stop and have a conversation with and find pictures of her grandchildren and great grandchildren to show off.

Rose is survived by her beloved husband and best friend Richard P. Donnelly, her 9 children, Robert, Phyllis, Vickie, Jonathan, Gary, Sharon, Kevin, Joanne and Michael along with all of her grandchildren. Preceded in death was her son Dennis and grandson Michael.

Calling hours will be held Tuesday, July 19, 2011 from 3:00 p.m. until the funeral service time at 5:00 p.m. at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St. in Oneonta. The Rev. Judith A. Thistle will officiate. Immediately following the service refreshments will be served at the First United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 66 Chestnut St in Oneonta.
