MARYLAND – Ruth Beams Duggleby, 92, passed away Thursday, April 2, 2009 at the A.O. Fox Nursing Home in Oneonta.
She was born November 10, 1916 in Oneonta, the daughter of George W. and Ella Mae (Algir) Beams.
She married Arthur F. Duggleby Sr. in 1947 in Oneonta.
Mrs. Duggleby was interested in the community. She was a Nurse/Teacher at A.S. Draper Central School in Schenevus for over 20 years and was a co-founder of the Worcester Health Center, where she served on the Board of Directors and was one of the first president's of the board. She was a life member of the Cooperstown Junction Methodist Church and a member of the Schenevus VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening and needle work.
She is survived by two sons, Barry Hoyte and wife, Sandra of Manchester, WA and Arthur F. (Skip) Duggleby Jr. and wife, Donna of Maryland; grandsons, Seth and Thor; great-grandchildren, Megan, Sarah, Clara and Ewan; a sister, Frances Mattice of Oneonta; a sister-in-law, Minnie Beams of Schenevus; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Faye Hoyte, a grandson, Thane Hoyte and several brothers and sisters.
A memorial graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2009 at the Maryland Cemetery, with the Rev. Kenneth Baldwin, retired, officiating. A reception will follow at the Schenevus VFW.
