ONEONTA – Ruth C. Savage, 102, passed away on Wednesday, October 29, 2008 at the Teresian House in Albany.
She was born November 23, 1905 in Oswego, the daughter of Charles and Anna Molly (Rockstroh) Johnson.
She married Donald F. Savage in 1929 in Poughkeepsie. He predeceased her in March of 1977.
Mrs. Savage was employed at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta as a switchboard/telephone operator for many years.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Oneonta where she was a member of the Women's Association.
Mrs. Savage enjoyed antiquing, sewing, refinishing furniture and was always doing some sort of craft at all times.
She is survived by her children, Donald J. and Florence Savage of Laurens, Jane and Art Ferguson of Albany, Charla Cook of Albany and Carol and Wilbur Allen of Mt. Vision; 9 grandchildren; many great grandchildren, nieces, nephews and two sisters-in-law.
Calling hours will be held at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, Oneonta, on Monday, November 3, 2008 from 11 a.m. to the service time at Noon, with the Rev. Mark Montfort, pastor of the Oneonta, First Presbyterian Church, officiating.
A private interment will be at the Glenwood Cemetery, Oneonta.
