ONEONTA – Scott Angelo Merlino, 37, passed away unexpectedly from a heart attack on Wednesday, March 4, 2009.

He was born September 16, 1971 in Oneonta, the son of Thomas and Dolores (Rheaume) Merlino Sr.

Scott graduated from Oneonta High School, where he enjoyed playing football.

He was a chef while living in Montauk and recently was working on his own website business, shadyideas.com

He is survived by his parents, Tom and Dee Merlino of Oneonta; a sister, Kim and husband, Shawn Scott of Virginia; a brother, Chris Merlino of Oneonta; his children, Christina Merlino of Flushing and Matthew Fischer of Syracuse; his fiancée, Cathy Borello of Flushing; nephew, Shane Scott; niece, Cierra Scott; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was predeceased by a brother, Thomas M. Merlino II.

Calling hours will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 8th at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, Oneonta.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday, March 9th at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Oneonta, with the Reverend Joseph Benintende, pastor, as celebrant.

A graveside service will be 9;30 a.m., Friday, June 18, 2021 at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Oneonta, NY.
