Sofran I. Bengtson, 88, passed away Sunday, March 31, 2019 at the Cooperstown Center.

She was born on March 14, 1931 in East Worcester; the daughter of Rudolph and Mary (Gergich) Dedek.

Sofran married Kenneth Bengtson on October 18, 1960 in Colonie. He predeceased her in 2012.

After She received her license from the Austin Beauty School in Albany, she worked at the Pine Hills Beauty Salon. Following her time there, she worked for Marvin Parshall's Law office.

Sofran is survived by her daughter Joan Bengtson of Maryland, her granddaughter Dayna Handy, her 3 grandsons, Zachary, Dustin and Benjamin Bengtson, her sister Janet Del'Olio, her brother Dennis Dedek and her several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her son Brian Bengtson in 2014.

Calling hours will be held Wednesday, April 10, 2019 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Heller & Skinner Funeral Home, 155 Main Street in Worcester.

Sofran's burial will take place at the St. Joseph's Cemetery later in the spring.
