SONYA VASKO

Oneonta – Sonya Vasko, of St. James' Manor, Oneonta, and formerly of St. James and Glen Cove, Long Island, passed away Wednesday, November 8, 2006 at A.O. Fox Nursing Home.



She was born March 13, 1919, in New York City, to Anna and Alexander Sadowsky.



She married Joseph F. Vasko on October 2, 1949. He predeceased her November 25, 1966.



She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Nancy (Goldy) and Brian Miller of West Laurens, and Susan and John Daffara of St. James, L.I., and beloved grandchildren Christopher Daffara of Oneonta and Justin Daffara of St. James. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.



In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her only sibling, Alex Sadowsky.



Sonya's family extends a special thank you to all the amazing Hospice nurses and the doctors and nurses of Unit 2 of the nursing home for their exceptional care, compassion and understanding during the last two months of her life.

At Sonya's request, there will be no calling hours or memorial service. Internment will be at the convenience of the family at Long Island National Cemetery, Farmingdale, NY, where Sonya will join her husband.
