Obituary

Stanley Jack Polich, brother, uncle and dear friend, passed peacefully from this world Wednesday, September 14, 2011 at the Countryside Care Center in Delhi, NY.

Stan was born on the family farm in Gothicville (Decatur), NY on May 12, 1931 to Agnes and Frank Polich.

He graduated from Worcester Central School in 1948 and served in the United States Army as a member of the occupational forces in France following World War II. Upon his return, Stan worked and attended night classes for several years, eventually graduating from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering.

Stan was employed by General Electric as a polypropylene process engineer involved in making, developing and applying film for capacitors. The company sent him to several countries to set up processing plants, including Japan, Finland, Sweden and China. He retired in 1992 after 42 years of dedicated service. His joy of travel continued long after his retirement. He always returned from trips loaded with souvenirs, pictures and stories to share with his family and friends.

Stan was a respected member of the General Electric Quarter-Century Club, the Glens Falls Kiwanis Club, and the Glens Falls Hospital Guild where he served on the Board of Directors. He also volunteered as a Lifeline installer from 1993 to 2010 through the hospital.

Stan is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Mary Pavlick of Worcester; a special cousin, Henry Pavlick of Florida. He also leaves nephews and nieces, Richard Pavlick, Diane and Joe Fedor, Janet and Don Brigham, and Elaine Pavlick; great-nephews and nieces, Bill, Jim, Megan, Abby, and Macklin and many wonderful friends in the Glens Falls area.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father John Roos at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Worcester, NY on Monday, September 19th at 11 a.m. There will be no calling hours.

Burial will take place 11 a.m. Monday, October 3, 2011 at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
