Obituary

Susan Elizabeth Brandow went home to be with Jesus on January 17, 2026.

She was the beloved daughter of Edna Church Brandow and Loren L. Brandow. Susan was born on October 9, 1946. Sue grew up on Mulberry Street graduated from Binghamton North High School in 1964. She attended SUNY Geneseo and graduated from Broome Community College.

Susan went to work at Fowler's Department Store beginning as a sales clerk, working her way through the ranks to a position as a buyer. She worked as a buyer at Wilmington Dry Goods in Delaware, and then Richard's in Miami, FL and Dey Brothers in Syracuse as a buyer of children's clothing. She relocated to Binghamton to work at AC Moore as an assistant store manager. Her retail career ended in retirement after working at Gertrude Hawk while living in Endwell.

Susan is survived by her devoted care team her cousin, Patricia Riddell Kent and Steven Kent of Oneonta, and friend and caregiver, Sherry Tomasko; cousins, Ann Slocum of Oneonta, Carol Michalak Swenson of Webster, Tom (Sherry) Loller of Greece, NY, Nancy Swanson (and husband Fred Crittenden) of The Villages, FL; cousin, Charles A. Brandow; second cousins, James Van Deusen, Derek (Diana) Van Deusen, Dennis (Anne) Van Deusen, Dianne Tokar, Carter Harrison, and Douglas Harrison; also survived by her special friend, John Mastrogiacomo of Vestal.

She is predeceased by her parents, and her cousins, Wayne Swanson and Bobby B. Riddell.

Sue loved her feline family members over the years. Sue was quick-witted and humorous. She was a voracious reader, and she enjoyed doing all kinds of crafts, especially making dish scrubbies to give to others. She enjoyed traveling to her happy place at Cape Cod and seeing her friends.

Susan's family expresses heartfelt gratitude to The Plains Assisted Living staff and the staff at Fox Nursing Home for their compassionate and exceptional care.

A Celebration of Life will be held on May 2, 2026 at 1:00 p.m. at the Southside Weselyan Church, 5300 NY 23, Oneonta,  with Pastor Santamont officiating.  The interment will be at Vestal Hills Cemetery.
