ONEONTA – Terry E. Thayer, 57, passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, February 25, 2007.

He was born July 29, 1949 in Oneonta, the son of Allen E. and Vera (Norton) Thayer.

Terry was an Oneonta High School graduate, Class of 1969. He then graduated in 1971 from the Albany Business College receiving an Associates Degree in Accounting.

He married Cynthia Morstatt on August 29, 1971 at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Garnerville, NY.

Terry believed that the high light of his life came on June 2, 1974 with the birth of his son, Frank. Frank brought so much joy and happiness to his life. "God must be glorified in and throughout the celebration. Although brain cancer has shortened my life with my family, my blessings have now and continue to fill my life to overflowing. As I go to my rest in Jesus as a husband, father, grandfather and friend I am secure in His love and the truth of His promise…"

Terry was a HVAC Technician for 30 years, he last position was with Mirabito Fuel Group in Oneonta.

He was a member of St. James Episcopal Church in Oneonta, where he was an Acolyte Thurifer Chalice Bearer. He was also a member of the Reminiscers Antique Car Club, his pride and joy being his 1977 Corvette.

Terry his survived by his wife of 35 years, Cindy Thayer of Oneonta; his son and daughter-in-law, Frank and Jeanmarie Thayer of Goodyear Lake; 4 grandchildren, Eric Matthew (5), Benjamin Allen (4), Julia Cynthia (2), and Joseph Frank (9 months); his mother, Vera Thayer of Oneonta; his brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Kathy Thayer of Bremerton, WA and their children, Julia and John; his sister and brother-in-law, Susan and the Rev. David Dietsche of Colonie and their children Tad and Meg; his mother-in-law, Gloria B. Morstatt of Stony Point; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was predeceased by his father, Allen Thayer and his father-in-law, Frank Morstatt.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, March 1, 2007 from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home in Oneonta.

The celebration of life service Honoring God for the life of Terry will be Friday, March 2, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the St. James Episcopal Church, 305 Main Street in Oneonta, with the Rev. Kenneth Hunter, as celebrant. A reception will follow the funeral service in The Great Hall at the church.

Inurnment will take place at St. James' Columbarium at a later date.
