Obituary


Oneonta - Theresa Ann Walker, 74, passed away on August 24, 2026, at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown.

She was born on May 19, 1952, in Jamestown, the daughter of George Dorsey and Dolores Jean (Taylor) Dorsey.

She grew up in Jamestown, attended the Samuel G. Love School, and graduated from Jamestown High School. She also attended Jamestown Community College, where she studied English and sang at the Little Theater.

Theresa loved to garden, her flowers and bird watching. 

After marrying Jerry Walker in Jamestown in 1975, they moved to Oneonta, where they became members of the River Street Baptist Church. Theresa operated a daycare in her home for 14 years. She also worked at First Choice Cleaners and later at Custom Electronics.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Walker, and her daughters, Thereista “Felice” Stephens and Chevelle Walker; grandchildren, Lyric Taylor Lowe Stephens, Junnii D. Stephens, and Emily Lobb; sisters, Toni Dorsey, Debra Dorsey, Molica and David Blackburn, and Aleta Forney; brothers, Robert “Bobby” Dorsey, Kevin Dorsey, and Neal and Shirley Forney; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents, her brother, George Micheal Dorsey, and her son-in-law, Albert Stephens.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, located at 51 Dietz St., Oneonta, New York 13820. The visitation will begin at 12:00 PM on Saturday, August 29th, 2026 immediately following Rev. Kaler Carpenter will officiate the service starting at 1 PM. The burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery, Oneonta.
