Laurens – Thomas E. Davis, 71, passed away at home on March 13, 2022, with his beloved wife Dawn, and his canine buddy Emma at his side.
He was born June 20, 1950, in Oneonta, the son of Frank and Eunice (Sitts) Davis, and graduated from Charlotte Valley Central School, Class of 1969. After school, he joined the United States Navy serving from 1969 to 1971, as an airplane mechanic.
After the Navy, he worked with a private electrical contractor in Delhi. In 1973 he started working for Otsego Electric Co-Op in Hartwick, retiring as the shop foreman in 2008.
On June 29, 1991, he married Dawn VanAlstine Kuhn in the backyard of their home in Mt Vision.
He was a member of the Oneonta American Legion. He was on several softball leagues in Oneonta throughout his younger years. In retirement, he loved playing golf on several local courses. He was always busy puttering on something inside or outside his home. He was famous in the Laurens area for the Christmas Holiday lights and outside Holiday lawn ornaments that he made. He enjoyed his long walks with his faithful canine companion, Emma.
He is survived by his wife, Dawn Davis of Laurens; his step-son, Walter V. Kuhn and his wife, Colleen of Haymarket, VA; Papa Tom Tom's beloved grandchildren, Allison Kuhn, Daniel and Gregory Quintana, of Haymarket, VA; his sisters, Frankie Davis and Leila and husband, Philip Durkin; he was the beloved uncle Tom Tom to many, including, Richard and wife, Kelly Tavarone and Pete Tavarone and their families; as well as his wives sibling's Mary Hartmann, Caroline Wenck and children and grandchildren, David Van Alstine (Lois), and their children, and grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Robert VanAlstine, and Ruth VanAlstine and her son as well as many friends made from grade school throughout his life including special friends from Otsego Electric Co-Op he made over his 35 year career.
Tom was a friend of many and always stepped up to the plate when family and/or friends needed help. He was also recognized as Poppa Tom-Tom by many of the community children. He was predeceased by his parents.
A Celebration of Tom's Life will be announced at a later date.
