Obituary

JEFFERSON – Thomas E. Morell, 66, died Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at home from a heart attack.

He was born June 22, 1948 in Worcester, the son of Avery and Margaret (Kniffen) Morell.

He married Kay (Renwick) (McRabie) Morell on September 12, 1998 in Davenport. His first wife, Ruth Stannard predeceased him.

He was a loving grandfather to all of his grandchildren. He was very proud of them and would do anything for them. He loved being around people and making them laugh. He was the life of a party. He would try to help anyone who needed a helping hand. He had a strong love for his family, staying in close contact with all of them. He especially loved his dogs Baby Girl, Suki, Missy and Homer.

Tom was proud to be a hard worker. He was employed for The Town of Jefferson for 23 years, making a lot of good friends and many memories. He also worked for Eklund Farm Machinery, Royal Oak Charcoal in Stamford, Burton Enterprises in Oneonta. Retiring at the age of 62, he continued working at miscellaneous jobs, snow plowing and taking junk to the crusher.

He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Kay Morell; step daughters, whom he loved dearly, Penny and Chris Down and Bonnie Knowles and companion, John Wedekind; 3 step grandchildren, Morgan and Jessica, who he always enjoyed traveling to see and Thomas Knowles, who was named after him and lived with; a brother, Arthur and Alice Morell and a sister, Bertha and John Stannard Cooper; close friends, Richie and Volneta Stannard and Robert and Blanche Wilsey; and many nieces, nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, a nephew, Howard, a sister, Martha Smith; and brothers, Kenneth, Robert and Roy Morell.

Calling hours will be 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, December 1, 2014 with the funeral at 1 p.m., at the E.J. Skinner Co. Funeral Chapel, 155 Main St., Worcester, with the Rev. Judith Thistle, officiating.

The burial will be at Ouleout Valley Cemetery in Franklin at the convenience of the family.
