ONEONTA - Thomas Pizza, 65, of Oneonta, passed away on May 9, 2013 at the Veteran's Hospital in Albany, NY after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on May 26, 1947 in Oneonta, the son of Beatrice and Joseph Pizza. After graduation from Oneonta High School, he enlisted in the Air Force during the Vietnam era. Upon his return to Oneonta, Tom was employed by Custom Electronics, Inc., where he spent the majority of his career. He enjoyed many hobbies, his favorites being hunting and Nascar. He was a member of the American Legion in Oneonta and served as commander in 1993.

Tom was predeceased by his younger brother, Jerry and his mother, Beatrice.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Susan Pizza; his father, Joseph; his son, Brett and wife, Hannah and grandchildren Griffin and Joseph; also step-children, Shelley, Darrin, Brenda and Stacey and grandchildren, Don, Derek, Dan, Justin, Victoria, Kyle, Alexis and Isabella. His mother-in-law also survives him, Mrs. Sheila Wiedeman of Oneonta, as well as his aunt, Veronica Nelson and Laura Munson.

Calling hours will be 11:30 am to 1:30 pm Thursday, May 16th at Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home on 51 Dietz Street, Oneonta.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM in Mount Calvary Cemetery in Emmons.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Oneonta Vets Club (American Legion, Post 259), 279 Chestnut Street, Oneonta, NY.
