Obituary

WORCESTER - Valarie Nyback Manchester went to be with our Lord on October 3, 2022. She was the daughter of Edward William and MaryAnn (Ballard) Nyback.  She was born in Cobleskill on February 24, 1966.

Valarie is survived by her husband and best friend, Floyd Manchester; mother, MaryAnn Nyback; sister, Robyn Ouimet, her children, Rachel (Warren) Edson, Ryan (Amber) Ouimet; sister, Christine (Matt) Nichols, their children, Phinneaus and Elle Nichols; in-laws, JoAnn Manchester (Mike Bascomb), her children, Phyllis Snyder and Denise Snyder; MaryLou Manchester; Brenda Manchester (Bill Lang); Klaus (Shannon) Manchester, their children, Gabi, Alison and Johnny; Gabi Ries, her son, Swen (Stefanie) Ries, their daughter, Alicia.

Val was predeceased by her father, Edward Nyback; brother, Bryan Nyback; brother-in-law, Joseph Ouimet and brother-in-law, Ralf Ries.

Valarie graduated from Charlotte Valley Central School in 1984.  She attended Albany Memorial School of Nursing from 1984-1987, where she earned her Registered Nursing degree.  Valarie graduated from SUNY Utica Rome in 1989 with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

She was employed as a public health nurse for Schoharie County for 31 years. Although eligible to retire in the spring of 2020, Valarie continued working during the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic.  A true testament of her love for patients and her dedication to her profession.

Valarie dedicated her life-giving and providing for others. She was always the first to help friends and loved ones in a time of need and shower them with gifts. Especially her nieces and nephews! Val never wanted anything in return, just to see the extreme joy she brought to everyone.

Valarie enjoyed riding her bicycle. She peddled 1,000 miles per season. She was an avid outdoorswoman, enjoying snowshoeing in the winter and walking.  Val especially enjoyed her lunchtime walks with her co-workers. She could also be found delivering her delicious pies and cookies to family and friends.

In 1998-1999 Val and Floyd welcomed German foreign exchange student, Yvonne Werner (Simon) into their home.  Yvonne resided with them from August of 1998 through June 1999.  During that year, they spent time exploring and traveling throughout New York State.  Valarie and Floyd were able to spend time with Yvonne and her family in Germany. Yvonne will always be a member of this family!

Valarie passed away a year after being diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer.  Val did so with bravery and poise and died in peace on her terms with her loving husband.

Valarie and Floyd would like to thank the team at Bassett Oncology Center.  Especially Amie and Dr. Allerton. Thank you for making the worst human situation tolerable. But most of all thank you for caring far beyond your professional obligations could ever require!
