OTEGO – Valerie L. Braun, 50, passed away October 18, 2014 at home after a
courageous battle with cancer.
She was born October 17, 1964 in Oneonta, the daughter of Wayne and Dorothy
(Clapper) VanSteenburg.
She married Robert Braun on February 28, 1998 in Otego.
Valerie was proud to work in the healthcare field as a nurse's aide. She loved
taking care of people. She worked at ARC Otsego and as a Home Healthcare Aide.
She is survived by her Husband, Robert Braun of Otego; daughters, Kerry Wilber
Oliver and husband, James Oliver of Otego and Heather VanSteenburg of Rhode
Island; her beloved grandchildren, Rashaun Wilber, Kylianna Oliver, Gabriel
Perez, Aryiah Oliver and Damien Perez; her brother, William VanSteenburg of
Otego; a niece, Brittany Thompson and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents, a brother, Wayne VanSteenburg and a sister,
Susan VanSteenburg.
A remembrance service will be 2 p.m., Tuesday, October 21, 2014 at the Lewis,
Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta.
