Victor C. Sondergaard, 86 of Decatur, NY, formerly of Monroe, CT died at his home on January 17, 2012 with his wife at his side.

Mr. Sondergaard was born in Bridgeport, CT to Victor and Mildred Sondergaard on November 23, 1925. He was educated in the Stratfield Schools. As a member of the International Teamsters Union, he was a truck driver, retiring with 40 years of service.

After moving to New York State, he built his home and barns and raised beef cattle. With his wife Connie, they rode their quarter horses on their property and the adjoining state forest and hosted many trail rides. He was a member of the Yo-Sco-Haro Horse Club and the Richmondville Historical Society.

He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Connie Schaefer, whom he married November 1, 1953; in Maine, his son, Jeff, daughter, Lorna, his grandson, Kelsey and great granddaughter, Zoey. He is survived by his brothers, Phil (Joan) Sondergaard of Richmondville, Cliff (Gail) Sondergaard of Decatur and sister, Joan (Earl) Smith of Jupiter, Florida and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents; stepmother, Ethel; his brother, Jim and sister, Dorothy.

There will be no calling hours and in the spring there will be a gathering of family and friends.
