Viola L.
Muehl
December 7, 1926 – March 28, 2025
Worcester - Viola L. Muehl, 98, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2025 at the Cobleskill Regional Hospital.
A Mayflower descendant, Vi was born December 7, 1926 in Sharon, CT, the daughter of William and Angela (Danley) Lewis.
Vi's family moved to Schenevus, NY in 1941 when she was 14 years old. She graduated from Andrew S. Draper School, Schenevus in 1945. She worked at Wickes Restaurant, also in Schenevus.
In 1947, she married Jakob Muehl and moved to Worcester. Raising a family and helping to run the family farm filled her life. Later when her husband attended college and taught high school in Schenectady, she took on an added share of the farmwork. Somehow, she later found time to add a career as a school bus driver at Worcester Central and election worker.
With her shy nature, she hid her light under a basket. She just did it all, always putting others first. Her smile was famous and will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her children, Susan Rooney, Stephanie (Larry) Price, and Nancy (Larry) Decker; grandchildren, Jesse (Alexis Loving) Rooney, Evan (Kathy Fitzgerald) Rooney, Christie (Charles) Torres, Kathleen (Will) Ochandarena, Joshua (Kristin) Decker, Madeleine (Aaron) Helo, Samantha (Robert) Pence, Tyrell (Cami) Decker, Ethan Decker and Erica (Christopher) Butler; and 8 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Jakob; infant daughter, Amy; sister, Hazel Lewis Wells; brother, Clifford Lewis and great-granddaughter, Ottilia Torres.
Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 10, at the Heller & Skinner Funeral Home, 155 Main St., Worcester.
The Funeral Mass will be 1 p.m. on Friday, April 11 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 201 Main St., Worcester. Interment will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery.
