OBITUARY
SCHENEVUS – Virginia Granati Tessitore, 93, passed away with her family at her side on Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at the Oneonta Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
She was born on September 28, 1916 in Colliersville. Her parents were Thomas and Assunta (Lepri) Granati.
She married Carl J. Tessitore on April 25, 1948 in Schenevus.
Virginia graduated from Schenevus Central School and worked at the Glove Factory in Schenevus. She was a loving mother raising three sons. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Schenevus, where she was married, and the Schenevus Fire Department Women's Auxiliary.
She enjoyed gardening and visiting her many wonderful and loving family members in the Rensselaer and Capital District area. Virginia was very sympatric of several charities, in which she contributed to on a regular basis. Her home was open to anyone who happened by and they were always greeted with her very warm personality.
In addition to her husband, Carl, she is survived by her three sons and their families, Edward of Clifton Park, Eugene and his wife, Brenda, and their daughters, Rebecca and Erika of Schenevus and Douglas and his wife, Tracy and their son, Nathan of Oneonta; her sister, Clara Concolino of Rensselaer; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, and a sister, Anna Pugliese.
Calling hours will be 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, December 13, 2009 at the Heller Funeral Home, Schenevus.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Monday, December 14th, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 201 Main St., Worcester, with the Rev. Ronald Green, MM, as celebrant. Interment at St. Joseph's Cemetery will take place, weather permitting.
