Warren K.
Robinson
October 12, 1948 – May 7, 2021
The family of Warren K. Robinson sorrowfully announce that Warren has made his last inappropriate joke on May 7, 2021, signing off on a life filled with beauty, laughter, and few regrets. Born to the late Kenneth and Mary Robinson on October 12, 1948 in Worcester NY, Warren was able to complete the life cycle by releasing his last breath in the same house where he took his first.
Being the youngest brother of four was a substantial task. He was always up for the challenge of torturing his siblings through a series of jokes and pranks. All his practice during childhood easily made him a lifelong professional at being the life of the party. With his quick wit and infectious belly laugh, being in his presence was always a treat to everyone. Even innocent bystanders were never immune to his fun loving personality and trickery.
Warren started his long and admired career by apprenticing with his father, Kenneth, on many carpentry projects during his teens before proudly serving our country in the National Guard. His service to the country and community didn't end there. He worked for many years for the NY State DOT, and later went into business for himself as a Plumbing and Heating Technician. Warren selflessly volunteered for the Worcester Hose Company for over 40 years as a firefighter and later as an ambulance driver. Despite being amid the chaos, he was always the one his fellow volunteers sought out to lighten the mood. He was honored to be of service to his community and never passed up on a chance to score a free coffee or donut.
Warren's first wife, Valarie Dutcher, is the mother of his two children, Joleane and Jared. To this day their children do not understand how he convinced their mother to sew and create colorful costumes and props for which he used to perpetuate his various practical jokes. Growing up in Warren's household was never dull or quiet. Bedtime stories consisted of him reciting, and often reenacting, the prank of the day. During their youth, Warren made sure that their moral fibers were enriched by Archie Bunker, Sanford and Son, and Ernest P. Worrell. We grew to understand the concept of hard work and celebrated his passions next to him. He was always eager to teach us how to fish, hunt, camp, or ride a motorcycle. Most of our fondest memories happened at the camp at East Worcester Fish & Game Club and our yearly trips to Americade in Lake George.
On August 4th 2007, he married Laura Robinson, with whom he was able to spend the rest of his life. In Laura, Warren had found a companion to share his love of motorcycling, singing karaoke, and camping together. While not related by blood, Warren gained through his marriage a multitude of additional children and grandchildren to love as his own.
Warren lovingly assembled doll furniture, racetracks and built elaborate train sets and oversized playhouses in his yard for his grandchildren and great grandchildren. There is no other title he earned that he was prouder of than the title of Papa. He spent countless hours skipping stones and searching for glass bottles with them, while letting them wear his old tee shirts during overnight stays. He never missed a "Back to School" shopping trip, award ceremony, or graduation. Christmas time was his absolute favorite time of the year, when he would spoil his family freely. His grandchildren never fell for the Santa costume, but they will always believe in his magic. His never ending faith in all of his children despite their familial title is something we will all cherish and miss dearly. As Papa, he aspired to train at least one of his grandchildren to cuss properly and know the lyrics of "Pfft You Were Gone" from Hee Haw.
Warren was a frequent early morning loiterer at the local Stewart's in Worcester. He could often be seen in the last booth on the right, AKA the Codger Corner, "busting somebody's chops." During the holidays he was always eager to share his famous homemade eggnog. Warren had many adages including, "Is that a rabbit over there?", "It's an old Indian trick," and "Rodgeycocka" (His words, not ours). If you were close to him, or if you made an impression on him, he never called you by your real name. We do not know how he did it, but he may go down in history for renaming an entire community.
Warren faced his mortality as he did his life: face on and with conviction. Left with decades of fond and colorful memories are his two children, Joleane and Jared Robinson, five grandchildren, Nicole Robinson, Corbyn Cleveland, Kaedynce & Kendolyn McEntee, and Maxim Robinson, and two great-grandchildren, Novalee Robinson and Arya Hollenbake, whose fingers may be tiny but they had him wrapped right around them.
He also leaves behind siblings Paul Robinson, Marie Robinson and the late Anna Nelson, in addition to several nieces and nephews and even more great nieces and nephews who all adored their "Unkie Warren."
Sorry, Grandpa Kenneth and Mary (Nippie) Robinson, we did the best we could to take care of him and keep him out of your hair as long as we could. He is back in your court now.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Heller & Skinner Funeral Home in Worcester. A memorial service will be held at The Second Baptist Church, 132 Main St., Worcester NY under the guidance of Rev. Judith Thistle on May 20, 2021. Seriously, to honor his memory, what would have made him the happiest is for you to go have a cup of coffee with a friend and bs about his antics or play a harmless prank on some unsuspecting sap. If you feel compelled to spend your hard-earned money to honor his memory, donations may be sent to serve the children in the community at The Storehouse, PO Box 133, Worcester NY, 12197 with The Wee-Care Program noted.
