Otego - Wayne J. Hanvey, 75, passed away at home on January 1, 2025.

Wayne was born June 9, 1949, in Oneonta. He graduated from Oneonta High School and was self-employed as a carpenter. Wayne enjoyed staying busy and tinkering.

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Janet; he was the best father to, Judy and Arlu, Jackie and Ralph, Jean, Patti and Patrick; his beloved grandchildren, Brenton (Nicole), Stacey, Brittney (Cody), Danielle (Lucas), Garrett, Drew, Joe (Casey) and Liz (Kyle); several great-grandchildren; sister, Connie; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, Lyle and Charlotte (Young) Hanvey; son, Jody; siblings, Richard and Sandy.

Calling hours will be 2 p.m. to the prayer service at 3 p.m. on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at the Lewis, Hurley & Pietrobono Funeral Home, 51 Dietz St., Oneonta.  The Rev. Keith VanDewerker will officiate.
