William T.
Hallahan Iii
September 11, 1957 – March 3, 2026
William T. Hallahan III, 68, passed away peacefully on March 3, 2026. He was reunited in heaven with his beloved wife Susan on the same date as their wedding anniversary, on what would have been their first apart in over four decades.
Born September 11, 1957 in Queens, New York, he was the son of William T. Hallahan Jr. and Helen V. (Straney) Hallahan. Bill grew up surrounded by a close-knit Irish Catholic family where life was simple, loud, and loyal. The Hallahan family's values of loyalty, resilience, and sharp humor shaped him for the rest of his life.
Bill married Susan Elizabeth Davis on March 3, 1985. Their bond was one of enduring love, devotion, and partnership. Together they raised four children and built a home centered on family traditions and time spent together. Through relentless hard work and sacrifice, he built a life in the small town of Worcester, NY, as he was determined to give his family a better, calmer life. Everything he did was for his family.
Bill spent much of his working life as a dockman, loading planes for Airborne Express / DHL. The work was demanding, often unseen and physically exhausting, but he carried it out with unwavering commitment. He was deeply proud of his role, his union, and the life he built through years of patient, steady work.
He loved to fish, first as a young man alongside his father and uncle, and later with his sons aboard the Irish Mist. The hand-painted nameplate still hangs in the family home, a reminder of those early mornings and the generations who shared them.
Beneath his tough exterior was a warm and patient nature and those who spent time with him rarely left without a laugh. Bill was known for the phrases that punctuated his everyday life: urging everyone at the dinner table to "Bang it up," pausing mid-conversation with "…ya know what I mean?", or brushing things off with a simple "Don't worry about it, babe."
He was also a devoted sports fan, following the Mets and Jets through decades of ups and downs. When the score turned, he would flip the channel, typically followed by a "Never bet on a New York team." Watching a game with him was rarely dull, and always a lesson in knowing when to stay with it, and when to say, "that's enough of that."
Bill is survived by his children, William IV, Thomas, Stephanie, and Bridget; his grandson, William Hallahan V; his daughter-in-law, Dani; his sister, Janmari Hallahan; brothers Peter, Michael, and Howard Sarter; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
He is reunited with his wife Susan; his father William "Pop" and stepmother Anna (Sarter) Hallahan; his mother Helen and stepfather Stanley Jakubowski; his brother Scott; his sisters Barbara and Cathy; his uncles Jim Hallahan and Wayne Sarter; and extended family members and friends who were deeply cherished throughout his life.
Burial will take place later in the spring when the ground allows.
Calling hours will be Noon to 1:45 p.m. on Friday March 20, at the Heller & Skinner Funeral Home, 155 Main St., Worcester. The funeral mass will follow at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 201 Main St., Worcester.
