Laurens - William A. Harkenreader, 85, passed away on May 21, 2026, at Bassett Hospital in Cooperstown, New York.

Born on June 20, 1940, in Carbondale, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Frank and Julia (Galko) Harkenreader.

He was the head mechanic at Stamford Golf Course, where he retired after many years of service.

He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara (Madseon) Harkenreader; together, they raised two children, William J. Harkenreader and Jean Corna; he took great pride and joy in his two grandchildren, CJ Corna and Kelli Harkenreader, and her partner, John Monico; his three sisters: Anne Baird, Jeanne Bordinger, and Patricia Jarmakovitz, as well as by many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his siblings Barbara VanDusen, Ellen Montgomery, Stanley, Frank, Gerald, Edward, and Lawrence Harkenreader.

A celebration of life will be held on his birthday, Saturday, June 20, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Oneonta Veterans Club, located at 279 Chestnut Street, Oneonta, New York. This gathering will be an opportunity for family and friends to honor and remember William.
