William "Jack" Nagle, of Worcester, NY passed away on July 14, 2017 in the presence of his immediate family.
Jack was born May 10, 1933 in Troy, NY to William "Bill" and Julia (Graney) Nagle. His brother Tom came 5 years later and currently resides in Las Vegas, NV.
Jack was a 1951 graduate of Schenevus Central School and attended SUCO where he received his Bachelors in Education followed later by a Masters from Albany State. He began his life in education in Sidney teaching the 5th, 6th, and Jr. High grades before moving on to Schalmont Central. After receiving his Masters he made the move to educational administration which started with an Elementary Principle position shared between Worcester and Schenevus, before becoming the District Superintendent at Schenevus Central. After a brief stint as superintendent in Red Creek, NY he moved to the Cayuga Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) before returning to Worcester as the Assistant Superintendent of the ONC BOCES in Stamford, NY where he retired after 10 additional years of service. Jack took one detour working for NASA in their education office outreach program touring colleges and secondary schools to educate would-be engineers and astronauts on the U.S. space program which hit high gear during his tenure from 1963 to 1966.
In 1957 Jack married Donna (Hilsinger) Nagle, with whom he just celebrated 60 years. Jack and Donna had two children, David and Kim Marie, who live in Oakland, CA and Leesburg, VA, respectively. He enjoyed his four grandchildren, Taylor and Erin Gibbons of Virginia, and Gradyn and Chase Nagle of California.
In addition to his devotion to his family and the education of our children, Jack loved sports and played football, baseball, and basketball in high school, baseball at SUCO, and on various baseball and basketball town teams for Sidney, Schenevus, and Worcester. He was a life-long lover of golf, the LA Dodgers, and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, like the rest of the Nagle family. Being such an ardent fan, Jack often required trips to the confessional seeking very temporary forgiveness for his liberal use of the Lord's name in vain.
In recent years he was known as the "Judge" after serving as Worcester's town justice from 2000 – 2012.
The Memorial service will at 11 a.m. Friday, September 15, 2017 at the Heller & Skinner Funeral Home, Worcester, NY, with the Rev. Keith VanDewerker, officiating. Interment will follow at the Maple Grove Cemetery.
Donations may be made to the Worcester Emergency Squad or Jim Huntington Scholarship Fund care of Schenevus Central School.
