Vajda
October 18, 1948 – August 31, 2022
Worcester – William E. Vajda, 73, passed away on August 31, 2022 at his home.
He was born October 18, 1948 in Englewood, NJ, the son of William R. and Edith A. (Telfer) Vajda.
Billy was drafted into the United States Army in 1968 serving until 1970 and was trained as a Military Police Officer.
He worked at Freight Daniel F. Young Inc. in New York City. In 2004, he moved from Ridgewood, NJ to Worcester. He was the owner of The Worcester Market for 12 years. Billy was an avid history enthusiast; he was especially knowledgeable about American history. He also was very fond of old cars.
He is survived by his brother, Jeffrey Vajda, Sr. of Oneonta; his sisters, Dawn "Kiki" Tomek and Dianne Vajda, both of New Jersey; a nephew, Jeffrey Vajda, Jr.; nieces, Jaimi and Chris Wetzel, Sarah Tomek and Larry Florman, and Danielle and Chase Buck and their children, Cash, Cora and Clay Buck; aunts, Shirley Michelle and Joan Myers; and dear friends, Kristian and Vicky of Richmondville.
Billy is predeceased by his parents and a sister, Doreen Maggio.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, September 8, 2022 at the Heller & Skinner Funeral Home, 155 Main St., Worcester.
A graveside service with military honors will be 11:30 a.m. on Friday, September 9, 2022 at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery, 200 Duell Rd., Schuylerville, NY.
